i dont think it should be a law to have to wear seatbelts
New Yorkers fed up being nagged
· Date: 2003-03-31
The New York Taxi and Limousine Commission voted unanimously last week to get rid of celebrity-recorded messages urging cab riders to buckle up and take a receipt and their belongings. The announcements began in 1996. They featured the voices of Celebs such as Chris Rock, Jackie Mason, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Joe Torre, Judd Hirsch, Joan Rivers, and Paul Sorvino.
A survey revealed the messages had little effect on whether riders used seatbelts,
and they were very fed up hearing them. As well, 12% said they don't buckle
up simply because of the announcements and 49% said they never wear seat belts
in a taxi.

I believe there is a law to wear seatbelts because people are too stupid to do it otherwise. Not wearing a seatbelt can not only cause one's own death but the deaths of others.
